Matt and Kim, the duo known for infectious, beat-driven anthems and explosive live shows, are back with their sixth studio album ALMOST EVERYDAY, out now on FADER Label.

Work on the new music began soon after Kim suffered a torn ACL while performing on stage at Mexico’s Vaiven Festival in 2017. The year-long break from touring allowed Matt and Kim the time to focus on songwriting and complete this album, which is one of the band’s most personal releases to date.

Matt of Matt and Kim says:

2017 was not a great year for us. Kim got real depressed during her recovery, and anyone who knows Kim (or has seen her play) knows she's such a bad-ass upbeat person so it was hard. Then of course almost every day it seemed like there was another terrible headline. I feel since the beginning of music people have used writing songs as a form of therapy, but I’m not sure we ever really did…until 2017. With a song like “Forever” it felt really good to get stuff off our chest.  While the chorus may seem harsh…I think the verses are a rally cry to pull together and just overcome all the bullsh*t.

Matt and Kim’s previous release was 2016’s WE WERE THE WEIRDOS -- a surprise 4-track EP produced in its entirety during the week between the band’s two performances at Coachella and debuted on stage. Noisey called the EP, “the kind of record that wants you to run around Brooklyn and shower your friends in dollar bills, or better still, dance on a roof in the middle of the day.”

The Brooklyn duo are also viral video stars, with over 50 million YouTube views and counting, from innovative music videos to a regular vlog “Matt and Kim Show Ya Stuff” which allows fans a personal glimpse into their lives off the stage.  Known for their inventive concepts, Matt and Kim’s video for “Lessons Learned,” in which they strip naked in Times Square on a very cold February day, won an MTV Video Music Award for “Breakthrough Video.”

Sub Pop found Yuno via Ishmael Butler of Shabazz Palaces and Digable Planets fame, who’s on the A&R staff for the label. He stumbled upon Yuno on Soundcloud and kept a close eye on him. Similar to Ish, Yuno is encouraged by the genre-bending age of melody we’re living through, citing Lil Uzi Vert and Young Thug as sources of influence. The multiple flavors of sound also reflect the breadth of feeling that he’s chasing in the writing. Moodie – the EP’s title – clearly relates to his surname, but it’s also channeling the emotional variety of the tracks. “It covers all the different feelings you have at the end of a relationship,” he notes. “Sometimes you’re really happy to be moving on, other times you’re really upset to see something go.”

Language not suitable for all ages.
