“…throughout Passwords and the band's career writ large, Dawes always returns to its greatest specialty: smooth and ingratiating California folk-rock that never bothers to hide its big, beating, bleeding heart. – NPR Music

This morning, Dawes confirm 20 new dates on the second leg of their “An Evening with Dawes: Passwords Tour,” adding shows at New York’s Beacon Theatre, Los Angeles’ Orpheum Theatre, and two nights at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and their February 19 date at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre’s Backyard Stage. Tickets for these newly announced dates will go on sale on Friday, October 5th at 10am, and every online ticket purchase for an “Evening with Dawes” show comes with either a physical or digital copy of their album Passwords.

Dawes also debuted the new music video for their single “Feed The Fire.” The video was directed by Matthew Daniel Siskin (Father John Misty) who says about the concept behind it: “Everyone is telling bands, writers, and artists to share, share, share. If you don’t share, nobody will care. If you don’t use social media, you don’t exist. That feeling / image struck me hard when I first heard Taylor’s lyrics. We’re all working for constant attention, without giving it a single thought as to “why” we’re doing it. Thankfully, the band trusted me enough to sit awkwardly in front of a camera over and over again. Forced to smile. But, as artists in 2018, I’m pretty sure they’re already used to that.” Watch the music video for “Feed the Fire” here: https://youtu.be/jFmiLP0P80w. Additionally, the band today also releases the Feed the Fire EP which includes live and acoustic versions of the band’s newest single.

Recently, Dawes returned to late night television to perform tracks from their celebrated new album Passwords on Jimmy Kimmel Live! (ABC) and Conan (TBS). The band performed a rousing rendition of “Mistakes We Should Have Made” on Conan, and the group performed “Crack the Case,” and “Living In The Future” on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Passwords is an album for and about the modern age: the relationships that fill it, the politics that divide it, and the small victories and big losses that give it shape. “We’re living in such a unique moment in history,” says lead singer and songwriter Taylor Goldsmith, “Many of these songs are an attempt to come to terms with the modern world, while always trying to consider both sides of the story.” NPR Music says that with the album, Dawes “returns to its greatest specialty: smooth and ingratiating California folk-rock that never bothers to hide its big, beating, bleeding heart.”
It’s been nearly a decade since Dawes first emerged from Southern California, carrying with them a roots-rock sound that nodded to the past – including the West Coast folksingers and cosmic country-rockers who chased a similar muse during the 1970s – while still pushing forward. Over the years that followed their North Hills debut, the band evolved and electrified. The grooves deepened. The amplifiers grew louder. Once known for their honest approach to classic sounds, Dawes grew into something different: a forward-thinking, boundary-pushing band for the 21st century, willing to follow inspiration wherever it leads.
