Having trouble deciding where to go for dinner when in St. Augustine? Love to try a variety of culinary dishes while listening to great live music? Then join us in welcoming the 21st annual “The Taste of St. Augustine” Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. “The Taste of St. Augustine” has grown to be the city’s premiere outdoor food festival, conveniently located at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre. This signature food festival serves up exciting “tastes” from over 25 of St. Augustine’s famous restaurants. Restaurants will compete for the prestigious TOStA (Taste of St. Augustine) awards, with categories including Best Family Dining, Best Ethnic, Best Upscale, Best Beverage and Best Dessert, as well as the ever popular “People’s Choice”, so make your vote count!
As in years past, this event includes an accompanying music festival designed to showcase great music to enjoy along with the culinary fare. This year, the entertainment is comprised of “The Committee” and “The Red River Band”.
Admission to “The Taste of St. Augustine” is $5.00, and food and beverage tickets cost $1.00 each, with most “tastes” somewhere between 2-5 tickets. Free parking and children under 11 receive free admission. All patrons can use their tickets to receive discounts at local attractions.
Also included is a free Children’s Activity Area where children will enjoy crafts and other fun activities.
Back year is “The Taste Academy”. Taking place the week of “The Taste”, “The Taste Academy” will offer a variety of educational opportunities for patrons to learn more about local food sources, how to prepare foods, the culinary history of St. Augustine and about local food trends. “The Academy” courses will take place at various sites throughout the county prior to “The Taste of St. Augustine”. Education about growing or preparing foods, cooking classes – all will be included in “The Academy”. Patrons of “The Academy” will also receive free admission to “The Taste”. To see the list of “The Taste Academy” courses and to purchase tickets, visit www.epicbh.org.
Back by popular demand is “The Race to the Taste” - a 5K run/walk starting and ending at the Amphitheatre with the course going through Anastasia State Park and surrounding neighborhoods. “The Race to the Taste” is the only 5K in St. Augustine tied to an extraordinary culinary event and registered runners receive 2 free admissions into “The Taste of St. Augustine”.
This year, runners are encouraged to dress up in their best rock star attire for “The Race” which will begin at 10:30 am, allowing for plenty of time to enjoy the Taste. For more information on “The Race” and to register, visit www.racetothetaste.org .
Proceeds from both “The Taste” and “The Race” will benefit EPIC Behavioral Healthcare, a nonprofit serving St. Johns County families since 1973!
